  Alternative Service "New Light" 1996 - Reaction

  are there any threads or web pages that give some feedback on the reaction to the downgrading of military alternative service from no-no to "conscience matter" in '96?

  (i've read franz's comments on the change.

  ) if i had been in prison for 2 or 3 "prime" years on the back of a policy that then subsequently changed , i would have been furious.

  in view of the recent threads about "new light", i thought you might like to see the gem recently posted by rr144 on his the forum he administers: .

  "if we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another and that which was light one or two or six years ago would be regarded as darkness now: but with god there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and so it is with truth; any knowledge or light coming from god must be like its author.

  pew forum on the religion and public life.. get this, on average, americans got 16 of 32 right.. number one group, yes, the atheists and agnostics got.

  an average of (20.9), jews (20.5), mormons(20.3), protestants(16).

  You cant get out of the book of Genesis without finding drastic plot holoes.

  As far as sin and lies who really lied in the garden of eden?

  Look at the account at genesis 3 with the fruit. The serpent was the one telling the truth that man would be like god and god admits it.

  Gen 3 22 Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of ( X ) Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from ( Y ) the tree of life, and eat, and live forever"--

  Than with the tower of babel god failed. Because man was unified in one cause this is what god did:

  Gen 11 6 The LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they all have (G) the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.

  The Faithful and Discreet NOSTRADAMUS

  would you believe the governing body of jehovah's witnesses has something in common with nostradamus?.

  nostradamus and fred franz wrote prophetically in seemingly specific words which were complicated and required belief and interpretation.. nostradamus came up with a pill to prevent the plague.

  fred franz came up with watchtower theolgoy that would prevent death at armageddon.. nostradamus used as his sources just about every seer, prophet, astrologer and biblical soothsayer he could work into a quatrain.. the gullible bought in and found "meaning".

  Noah's Missing Dove, Tower of Babel and Sumer

  i was reading genesis again today - chapter 8 and 9. and here are two additional curiosities i found now that the blinders are off.. 8:12 - apparently noah releases this mischevious explorer dove, who in verse 12, ends up never coming back.

  this raises three questions.

  for one, why would noah have to send out a bird three times to explore for dry land in order to see if it was safe to exit the ark?

  ted dencher wrote a book in 1966 entitled, "why i left jehovah's witnesses.".

  one of his chapters is entitled: "effect of anonymity on the mind.".

  he points out that the wts goes out of its way to take away jws' individual identities:.

  Congrats!

  From your 1st post to this one I cant help but realize that being gay or hetero as a dub is a messed up situation. You're both sexually frustrated, haven't a clue of how to engage with a person on an intimate level and when you do meet someone there is that awkward interaction with them due to your repressed feeling from being in the cult.

  But congrats on youir new found freedom.
